Landscape study: being stupid

So I was checking out my friend Onesimus' blog and noticed an inspirational picture he took. I decided I would like to make a study of it. To challenge myself I decided to use one brush with no transparency. It was probably a stupid move, it took me too long to do this one. But I think I learned quite a bit about color and light...which is really the point of all of this. For speed at the end I turned on spacing and flattend the brush because I was pretty much over it. Other than the foreground bushes though it was all the hard, round brush in photoshop and lots of back and forth between a photo. Thanks Onesimus.

Landscape warmup and study

Here is another landscape painting study from a photo. It took longer than the last one. Too many damn trees and such. It was worth it though. I learned quite a bit from this one. Sorry if this was your photo and I didn't credit you. I forgot my hard drive and just grabbed a picture off deviantart. If this is yours contact me and I will gladly link to the original.

Morning Warmup Landscape Study

Just a quick landscape study from a photo this morning. I am trying to break things down to a few colors and some graphic shapes. Using less transparency on the brushes and switching out colors more.
